Baycrest is a global destination for inter-professional education in geriatrics and aging, providing top-tier clinical training to allied healthcare professionals for best practices in seniors care.
The options for this service stream can include any combination of the following:
Training at Baycrest: BGS will work with the Baycrest Centre for Education to develop observership training programs for physicians and nurses, as well as allied health professionals and executive leadership if required. These will be customized to the unique need of both the client institution as well as the qualifications of the individuals receiving the training. Time frame for observership programs at Baycrest will range from one week (most likely for physicians) to several months (most likely for nursing).
Train-the-Trainer Program: BGS recognizes that the cost of sending multiple persons to Baycrest, and for prolonged periods of time, can become prohibitively expensive for possible partners who will be seeking to maximize their training investment. Accordingly, as an extension of the training at Baycrest described above, BGS will also look to develop a train-the-trainer program for select international parties.
Through such a program, individuals identified as having good educational delivery skills will be sent to Baycrest for personal training in their selected area of specialty. While at Baycrest, the Centre for Education will also work with those individuals to develop a training curriculum that will then be delivered to a broader audience upon their return to their home country. Initial delivery of these programs in the home country may be supported by the presence of a Baycrest educational specialist, who will act as a mentor/instructor for a pre-determined period of time.
On-site Training Abroad: Continuing the idea of taking Baycrest training directly to the recipients, BGS will work to support the delivery of training programs to interested parties in their home countries. Unlike the train-the-trainer mentor approach described above, this may or may not arise as the result of an ongoing engagement with a client, and may reflect more of a one-off need for highly specialized training to address specific care needs. As with all training, Baycrest will develop such in Toronto, and then ensure cultural adaption to ensure such training is both relevant and sustainable in the foreign environment in which it will be applied.
